CRUISFEST:
This year’s event was a smashing success! Almost 200 cars participated in the show and at least 400 visitors came out to look at the antique, custom and classic vehicles. We would like to extend a special thank-you to Barry Taylor and the Cruisefest Committee and volunteers for all their hard work. We look forward to another amazing show next year.

SPRING SOCIAL:
Our Spring Social Committee is already busy planning this great annual event. You may receive a visit from one of the volunteers looking for sponsorships and donations. As always, it is your generosity, along with the dedication of the volunteers, that make this such a successful event.

Again this year we ask you to donate what you can. If you wish to be a sponsor for this event or give a prize, please contact Patricia Daniels-Burry at 731-0317. We are also looking for more volunteers for our Spring Social Committee if you wish to participate in planning our wonderful gala.

RACE THROUGH THE LAKES:
Being held on Saturday, Nov. 6th, this exciting event, sponsored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kawartha Lakes - Haliburton, the United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes and the City of Kawartha Lakes will see 40 teams of 4 race their way across the region. Teams will have only 7 hours to visit at least 6 of the 10 locales featured in the rally. At each community, contestants will find a check-in point where their Race Passport will be stamped and they will receive a list of clues for that area. Great prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams. The cost of entry is $25 per person before Nov. 1 & $30 per person after that date.

The organizers are still looking for a volunteer business or agency that is open (or willing to stay open) Nov. 6th from 10 am - 5 pm and able to handle up to 40 teams of 4 people throughout the day. These volunteers will check team info, stamp team “passport” and provide the list of clues to that area.
To volunteer, to register or for more information, please phone 324-6800.

DOCKS FOR LOCKS:
Both the Chamber and the Trent Severn Waterway have identified the development of additional docking facilities at the Bobcaygeon Lock Station as an important objective. The Chamber’s TSW Committee, together with TSW staff intend to develop a plan which will include site location(s), design, construction and operational maintenance of such additional docks. The Committee will review and determine creative funding partnerships that will make this docking project a viable endeavour. Your help and input is needed. To serve on or assist the Committee, please contact Dennis Hearse at 731-0846 on or before October 18, 2004.
