DOORS OPEN:
Since 2002, communities throughout Ontario have annually opened the doors to hundreds of heritage sites. Doors Open Ontario offers communities the opportunity to boast their commercial buildings, courthouses, places of worship and other heritage sites. This year communities in the Southeastern section of the City of Kawartha Lakes will be featured:

Kawartha Region Arts & Heritage Society presents Fall Courses 2004 at Kawartha Settlers’ Village. Classes include:
Bunka Embroidery, Basket Weaving, Acrylics, Counted Cross Stitch, Collage, Pen, Ink & Oil Scrubs, Lampshades, Photography, Wreath/Swag/Garland Decorating, Pressed Glass Reproduction Painting, Quilting, Teddy Bear Workshop, Watercolours, Calligraphy, Etc.

POLICE & COMMUNITY TOGETHER (PACT):
Beginning September 15 and running every Wednesday from 7:00 to 10:00 pm until November 3 at Fenelon Falls Secondary School, these free information sessions will explain the role of the police within our community and how residents can assist them For more details please phone Mary Anne Byrne or Sgt. Reynolds at 324-6741.

PARKS CANADA:
As most of you know, job action is periodically being taken by the Public Service Alliance of Canada. As a result, lockage and bridge service has been occasionally disrupted. Parks Canada is posting current visitor advisories on its Web site at www.pc.gc.on.ca and offering up-to-date status information through its national call centre at 1-888-773-8888. Or feel free to call our office at 738-2202 and we will be glad to relay the contents of the Parks Canada Information Bulletin, which we receive on a regular basis.
